CLEAR ALIGNERS vs. BRACES
Braces and Clear Aligners work to straighten your teeth while improving your oral health and your smile. Braces are metal brackets secured to your teeth and attached by wires and tiny rubber bands. Nowadays, you can get brackets in different colors.
On the other hand, the biggest difference between Clear Aligners and braces is that Clear Aligners are virtually invisible. Aligner trays are worn over teeth to shift them gently. Dr. Fortson and his team will use X-rays, pictures, and digital impressions to create a precise 3-D image of your teeth and to configure your aligner trays accordingly.
WHY CHOOSE SPARK CLEAR ALIGNERS?
Your Spark Clear Aligners are designed to transform your life without impacting it. They are removable, enabling you to eat whatever you like and enjoy any of your favorite activities. Spark Clear Aligner trays make cleaning simpler than with braces.
If you have any special occasions coming up, all you need to do is take out your aligners, then pop them back in when done. Nobody will notice even if you decide to keep them on, because they are virtually invisible.
Spark Clear Aligners have been shown to reduce the time it takes to get the smile you’ve always wanted. They effectively treat complex cases using proprietary material, enabling our dentist to move your teeth more precisely.
WHAT DO CLEAR ALIGNERS TREAT?
Clear Aligners have proven useful for many mild to complex teeth-straightening cases, including the following.
Gapped Teeth: Gaps may result from the continued growth of the jawbone or teeth shifting. Gaps may lead to gum problems, periodontal pockets, and an increased risk of periodontal disease.
Overbite and Underbite: Overbites happen when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth. They can result from poor oral habits, genetics, or overdevelopment of the bone supporting the teeth. Overbites may lead to gum problems or irritation and wear on your lower teeth. Underbites occur when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth, commonly resulting from upper jaw undergrowth, lower jaw overgrowth, or missing upper teeth. Underbites may prevent the regular function of teeth, leading to tooth wear. Overbites and underbites can lead to painful jaw problems.
Crossbite: Crossbite is when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned, causing one or more of the upper teeth to bite on the inside of the lower teeth. That can cause wear of the teeth, gum disease, and bone loss.
Open Bite: Some teeth cannot physically contact opposing teeth with open bites. An abnormal jaw structure or excessive thumb sucking can be the cause. Open bites can cause painful chewing and speech impairment and may result in temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).
Crowded Teeth: Teeth crowding occurs when there is no room in the jaw for all the teeth to fit normally. If left uncorrected, overcrowded teeth can worsen, resulting in severely crooked teeth. That can lead to plaque accumulation, cavities, and gum disease.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Once you decide to gain your new smile, we will begin your transformation process. During your initial consultation, we will discuss your unique needs and evaluate whether Clear Aligners are right for you.
We will use a scanner to get precise 3D images of your teeth; then, we will map out your specific treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and the length of the treatment.
Your custom-made aligners will be worn 20 to 22 hours daily to achieve the best results. As you use your aligners, your teeth will slowly shift into place. When your treatment is complete, you must wear a retainer to ensure your teeth do not gradually shift back to their initial position.
